JSerra captured its first girls sweepstakes title at the Orange County Cross Country Championships in program history with five scorers in the top 20 to secure a 34-85 victory against Trabuco Hills at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, Calif. The Lions rebounded after being edged last season by Anaheim Canyon by a 35-36 margin. JSerra placed three athletes in the top seven, including freshman Summer Wilson securing second on the 3-mile course in 17:01.5 and sophomore Brynn Garcia taking third in 17:03.6, with ninth-grader Kaylah Tasser placing seventh in 17:28.9. Junior Brooke O'Brien took 14th in 17:47.7 and Georgia Jeanneret, a junior, captured 20th in 17:54.9 for the Lions. Seniors Ellie Johnson (18:20.7) and Cameron Murphy (18:25.9) were 31st and 37th overall for JSerra, the first Division 4 program in Orange County history to capture the sweepstakes championship. Senior Anastasia Snodgrass, who did not compete, joined the group following her recent verbal commitment to attend Cal Berkeley.
